Welcome to St. John's Church
an Anglican community in Clarksville, TNm
Who we are St. John's is an evangelical, Biblical fellowship of Christian disciples who seek to be the tangible expression of God's love in Clarksville, TN.
Originally intended as a church plant of the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee, it became apparent early on in our formation that the Holy Spirit was calling us towards a unique ministry that would address two signficant needs in our community.
The first need concerned our youth. As a culture of violence, entitlement, and indifference continue to plaque the teenagers of our country, we were seeking a high-impact solution that would recreate a diverse and cooperative community of young people who were reflective, industrious, productive, and compassionate.
The second need concerned the hungry and homeless. 1 in 10 Americans do not have enough food. 225,000 people are chronically hungry in Tennessee. 250 people in Clarksville depend upon our local food bank for a noonday meal.
To connect these two needs, and with the help of many friends and fellow travelers, we began Mission Clarksville. We are a non-profit organization that hires and pays diverse teenagers from all over our city to work very hard growing nutritious food for the poor and hungry in Clarksville.
As the Body of Christ, we are the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. And in the parable of The Good Samaritan, he compels us to reach out to the marginalized and the forgotten through acts of mercy and social justice.
